Winter hats
Have had fun this winter making these hats. They are fleece and fleece/handmade wool. Had the wool "scarf" laying around i made a summer ago or so, just made it into a winter hat/crown last month. When i made the scarf i didnt know that actually i was making a winter hat! Each one will be different, which i think is why they are fun to make!

Holiday star in that nasty Dec blizzard
This photo was taken during that blizzardy thing we had before the holidays. It was nasty. I was without power for too long. But egads it was lovely in its own right. Last weekend i re-measured the snowdepth on the table on the back deck : 15". Today, there is 0". Its gone. All of it. In January. No global warming, some say?
Making pots at Adamah
These are photos from this past summer......August if my memory isnt failing me. Spent 10+ days all the way over in Dodgeville Wi, to go to Clay Camp. Made lots of good pots. Had a good time with friends. Learned a bit about firing a muti-thousand cubic foot anagama wood kiln, and its sweet rear cantenary arch kiln behind it. Took 7 days to get to temp, stoking with wood 24 hrs/day. Then took another week to cool. I hope to go again, there are many of these kilns around the country these days, but its a treat to have one so close that is actually open to the general public.
Lefse Heaven
In December, I and friends gathered for our annual Lefse Day. This event is the brainchild of Karen S, and she has hosted this for years. But we have grown out of her kitchen, and her circuit breakers : last year our lefse making flipped too many circuits, as well as damaging her countertop. So this year we rented a "commercial" kitchen at a local lutheran church. When we arrived and started looking around to get acquainted with the kitchen, we opened a cupboard and saw this. LEFSE HEAVEN.

Spring 2012 Sewing Wkend

Labels: sewing weekend

We lost Trixie a few weeks ago. I miss the click clack of her toenails on the hardwood floors, and her bark to welcome me home. Not quite sure why her kidneys couldn't work correctly forever. I will miss her for a long time, even though she was only with me for a short 2 years. I managed to get a good dog fix last night though, Emily is dog-sitting for friends, so we had dinner and I visited Winston/Pearl/Jack last eve, and everyone needed some serious petting....lucky for me!
